CHAINS & SPROCKETS

Rear Chain - Heavy Duty chains are wider than standard ones of the same listed size due to their thicker side plates. O-ring chains are much wider than those with the same size rating but without an O-ring. X-ring chains are narrower than O-ring ones but still wider than standard chains. The old “link and a half” master link is no longer listed by the major chain manufacturers so great care must be taken when cutting the chain for your application.

Race Chain - Most knowledgeable builders of 500cc - 750cc vintage road racers machines prefer using #520 non-o-ring chain. A 520 chain is as strong as the wider #530 chain originally used on many models, assuming comparable quality, but considerably lighter as are the matching sprockets. DID's ERT chain is one of the strongest 520's available.
ERT 520 x 120 links - #U310         Extra master links - #U311

Commando #520 Rear Sprocket/Brake Drum – A copy of the 06-2764 Commando drum but made for use with a 5/8" x 1/4" chain opposed to the standard 5/8" x 3/8" chain. When paired with one of our 520 gearbox sprockets it allows the use of either a lighter 520 chain for racing or an o-ring 520 chain (a 530 o-ring chain is too wide to fit the Commando) for reduced maintenance and longer chain life. Limited quantities available. #C320
